Mummy, how many sleeps until I’m five?
Today Natan was four. Where the last four years have gone I have no idea, but they have flown by in a flash.
It really makes you treasure these moments. Before I know it he’ll be at primary school, then secondary school, then university, then he’ll be leaving home. My baby is growing up. Today I said that to him:
“How did my baby get to be four?”
“Mummy, I am not a baby.”
“You’ll always be mummy’s baby, however big you get,” I said.
We had a wonderful day at the first of his two birthday parties. We’ll be at the play centre with his nursery friends in a couple of weeks. Today Grandma made a tea party for him. He loved it.
Kids parties are exhausting. Nothing prepares you for them. And where I will put all his new toys and games, that’s another story. Bigger house perhaps?
When we got home tonight laden with balloons, cake, presents and all very tired, Natan was eating his dinner and shouted upstairs to me:
“Excuse me mummy.”
“Yes darling”
“How many sleeps until I’m five?”
“365 darling”
“Oh”
Only 365 sleeps until we do it all again.
